Are You Crazy or Passionate?

How often do you meet someone who is passionate
about their job? Not just reasonably happy in
their job, but really passionate about it?

Recently we came across one such person when we
went on a tour of Stirling Castle in Scotland. It
was such a pleasure as the guide exuded
enthusiasm and loved not only sharing his
knowledge of the fantastic castle, but also
finding out about the people in his tour group.

In contrast, we went on a guided ferry trip on
the River Thames in London, and the particular
guide we had was obviously bored stiff with his
job and although he gave lots of information, it
wasn’t as enjoyable for the tourists and I’m
pretty sure it wasn’t enjoyable for him.

It often strikes me that a job doesn’t have to be
particularly prestigious or even pay huge amounts
of money to give people satisfaction. For some
people money is a huge factor, but for others its
more about getting a sense of fulfilment. If its
what you love doing and what you look forward to
doing, then that is what matters.

I find it so sad that something like 90% of
people don’t enjoy their jobs!
That’s a crazy amount of unhappy people every single day.
(By the way, that's my crazy dog in the picture, passionate about
the black sand at the beach)
