Avoid Being Sick on Your Break
There is nothing more frustrating than finally getting away, or even just getting to the weekend, to then find you spend half of it ill.
I know the feeling all too well!
I have suffered terribly from migraines over the years and would often get through a stressful week, only to spend the entire weekend getting through a migraine. It felt like such a waste of a life!
Can you relate?
Many times it is a sore throat, or a cold or some other such lurgy that robs us of our much needed, eagerly anticipated free time.
And this just adds to our stress levels!
It is all to do with the body producing excess amounts adrenaline and cortisol when we are stressed. Doctors will tell you that when you relax, the cortisol levels don't drop as quickly as the adrenaline, which makes your body more susceptible to infections.
I have always thought of it as when you are stressed, the body is busy coping with the stress. It is only when you relax that the body has time to notice that all is not well.
So what is the answer?
You have to learn to deal with stress on a regular basis. Not rushing around at the last minute and not taking on more than you absolutely need to.
I love the word DELEGATE!
Of course, in the long term, you need to look at my favourite hobby horse. Find out who you really are. What makes you tick? What stresses you and what energises you, and try to avoid the what stresses you part as much as possible.Make sure you are getting a good balance of what energises you.
