Get On And Get The Job Done!

I have just been to a Royal memorial service for a great New Zealander, Sir Edmund Hillary. The first man to conquer Mount Everest back in 1953.

The legendary mountaineer, adventurer, and philanthropist is arguably the best-known New Zealander ever to have lived and he died in January 2008 at the age of 88.

The Queen held a special memorial service for him at Windsor Castle, which was a rare event of high honour, where great achievements of this New Zealand icon were recalled.

Sir Ed was a down to earth and practical man, and his son Peter spoke of how his father would often say:

"you can't just sit there and wait for things to happen, you have to get on and get the job done!"

What great words!

"you can't just sit there and wait for things to happen, you have to get on and get the job done!"

Yes, I thought it was worth repeating.

How often are we guilty of just sitting around, waiting for things to change when we could be doing something ourselves to get the job done?

Do we continue just existing in our lives, hoping that one day, something will just magically change?

There is another saying that I like:

"if you always do what you've always done - you'll always get what you've always got!"

So is it time for you to get on and make some changes in your life?

Time to get on and get the job done I say.
