Why Aren't You Writing Your Goals Down?

The definition of success is different for everybody. Yet, the basics for achieving a goal are always the same.

It begins with decisiveness, proceeds to focus, advances to action, persistence, follow through and eventually victory.

You and you alone are responsible for your own success. You either work hard for what you want or you don’t. Its that simple. I've said it before, you can't positive think your way to success, you have to take action!

therefore if you want to be successful in anything that you do, you have to take complete ownership of the process, which begins with goal setting.

If you want to get better outcomes, you must prioritize every action and activity.

Written goals are catalysts; they serve as transforming agents for success and achievement.

If you keep your goals in your mind they keep spinning around and are more likely than not to remain figments of your imagination.

Something happens in you mind when you put pen to paper. There is a real cnonnection in your brain when you physically write something down. So write your goals down, everyday! This keeps them in the forefront of your mind and not spinning around as a good idea.

Goals immediately take shape when you put your pen to paper. The goal progresses from thought to sketch, from sketch to action, and finally from action to achievement in real time.

A goal is more than a thought in your head. It’s a very real message about who you are and what you are capable of achieving.

So, begin by visualizing your goal and continue with that image until you get there. If you first go there in your thoughts then your body will soon follow.

There was a study done which split a group of basket ball players into two groups. One group practised, practised, practised. The other group did some serious visualisation about how they wanted to play better. Guess which group improved the most? Yep, the visualisation group!

Every Astronaut walks on the moon thousands of times in their mind before their feet ever get out of the ship.

Every goal kicker gets that ball over a thousand times in their head before they actually do it.

Get your pen and paper and write your goals down. What is it that you want to achieve in the next 12 months?

Should you Fake it til you Make it?

Have you heard that saying before?

It possibly conjures up images of people who think they are more successful and more important than they really are.

But I would like to think about this a little.

There's another saying, that "possession is 9/10ths of the law".

I think that goal setting and achieving your goals is exactly the same.

You have to act as if you own them. You need to possess them and own them.

Most importantly you need to act on them.

I was watching and interview with a very successful self made millionare in the UK, James Khan. He made his initial fortune by setting up a global recruitment company. When he first started out, he was very careful to give the impression that he was more than a one man band. He acted as if he was already the big successful company that he was to become.

No beginning proffessional would ever get very far, if they acted as if they had no confidence in their ability. A doctor acts as if he is a successful doctor, a mortgage consultant acts as if they have a wealth of experience etc etc.

I'm not suggesting you lie or be unrealistic, but you have to assume that victory is yours.

Do you?
